Charterhouse School
Project Details
For many years pupils have played rackets at Charterhouse School, enjoying one of the few courts for this sport in the UK.
When time came to update the lighting to meet the uniformity and lighting requirements of the sport and to show energy savings over the old metal halide and sodium lighting, Charterhouse turned to icLighting and their experienced lighting design team.
The light units needed to be robust enough to withstand impact from the balls, maintenance free and energy efficient with none of the flicker which had afflicted the old metal halides.
Charterhouse School reduces annual running costs by 45%
Bespoke Lighting Design
icLighting worked with Keith Hedgeson and Martin Crosby to develop a lighting scheme which met the design criteria and which also incorporated the inControl wireless control system to enhance flexibility.
Mr Hodgeson described the end result as “fantastic” and the school was delighted that the project was delivered on time and to budget by icLighting.

Carbon Footprint
The energy savings of 111,609 kWh translate to a reduction in the energy bill from £9,617 to just £5,330. Maintenance has been reduced to zero.
