Hampton Court Palace
Project Details
When it came time to upgrade the lighting at Hampton Court’s Royal Tennis Court the brief called for next generation lighting suitable for competition play at the world’s premier Real Tennis venue.
The light units needed to be robust enough to withstand impact from the heavy balls, maintenance free and sympathetically styled so as to conform to the requirements of the Grade 1 Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument status.
Hampton Court Palace reduces annual running costs by 45%
Bespoke Lighting Design
The icLighting in-house design team worked with Club Chairman Julian Sheraton-Davis to develop a lighting scheme which met the uniformity and illuminance requirements for competition play whilst requiring no alteration to the structure or wiring in of the building.
Wireless lighting controls were also incorporated into the design to allow switching between regular play and competition play without the need for additional control cabling.
A Positive Result
Since the completion of the project Mr Sheraton-Davis has received many complements about the standard of lighting and is delighted that The Royal Tennis Court is seen as the foremost venue for Real Tennis in the world.
