Self-Contained or Centrally Supplied System?

A good question. On a new build, a centrally supplied system offers exceptional value for money when looking at whole life value.WIth self reporting lights, you can reduce your emergency lighting maintenance to virtually zero whilst categorically knowing that your system is working and compliant with current regulations.

Alternatively, one can have standalone units that contain there own power source and these work well in retrofit situations as the only wiring required is a permanent live. Sadly they have one flaw, mainly the battery which will require replacing every 5-7 years so make sure to set a reminder if you’re not using a self test system. The other disadvantage is that you have to physically examine every emergency light every month to ensure functionality.

There is a solution to this by using our Wi-Fi self reporting standalone emergency lights. You do not have to rely on the assurance of a third party assurance that “yes mate, the lights are working”. We have seen and heard many horror stories of fabricated emergency lighting reports.
